World crude steel production fell by 3.8% YoY in May

According to statistics from the World Steel Association (World Steel Association) on 70 countries, global crude steel production in May was 158.8 million mt, a 3.8% YoY decrease.

China, the world’s largest crude steel producer, had a production of 86.6 million mt in May, a 6.9% decrease. Among other Asian countries, India’s production was 13.5 million mt, a 9.7% increase. Japan’s production was 6.8 million mt, a 4.7% decrease. South Korea’s production was 5.1 million mt, a 1.7% decrease. Iran’s production was 3.4 million mt, a 4.5% increase.

Turkey’s production was 3.1 million mt, a 2.8% decrease.

The EU-27’s production was 11.4 million mt, a 3.1% decrease. Among them, Germany’s production was 3 million mt, a 6.4% decrease.

Russia’s production was 5.8 million mt, a 6.9% decrease.

The US’s production was 7 million mt, a 1.7% increase.

Brazil’s production was 2.7 million mt, a 5.0% increase.
