According to MiningNews.net, the scale of the Curiosity/Southern porphyry deposit in Chile, owned by Southern Hemisphere Mining (SUH), is “large, very large,” as evidenced by recent magnetotelluric and induced polarization (IP) survey results.
The deposit, with a diameter of 1-2 kilometers and extending more than 1,400 meters below the surface, is considered similar to the nearby Valeriano porphyry copper-gold deposit owned by Atex Resources, which has 9.5 million mt of copper-equivalent resources with a grade of 0.65%.
Available data suggest the presence of a large-scale copper-gold-molybdenum porphyry mineralization system in the area. Historical shallow drilling has intersected 166 meters of mineralization at a depth of 2 meters, with a copper-equivalent grade of 0.16%, including a 2-meter-thick zone with a copper-equivalent grade of 1.45%.
In 2011, SUH acquired the project from Antofagasta.
The project has delineated a mineralized zone that extends 6 kilometers along strike and consists of three main ore segments: the central porphyry deposit, Cerro do Oro, and Ferrocarril.
